WALK DESCRIPTION

Starting on the State House lawn just across the street from the train station on Gaspee St, participants will observe, consider and discuss, the history, current conditions – what works well and what does not — and the issues going forward about transportation in the downtown area. From the train station, the walk will proceed through Kennedy Plaza to the proposed location of a new downtown bus hub at Dorrance and Clifford Streets where the walk ends.

WALK LEADERS: Barry Schiller and Patricia Raub

Barry Schiller, a life-long transit rider, motorist, and bicyclist, served on the RIPTA Board of Directors and the state’s Transportation Advisory Committee. Patricia Raub is a co-coordinator of the RI Transit Riders and teaches courses on the history of RI and on Providence architecture at Providence College.
