Explosive Change: What we do with old mill buildings
HOURS

MEETING POINT
10 Sims Ave. Farm Fresh RI
ENDING POINT
Same as the Starting Point

WALK DESCRIPTION
The life cycle of a mill is on full display in the Valley neighborhood. What have they been, and what have they become? We’ll look at specific buildings and their journey through industry, artistry, and beyond. We’ll discuss frankly about what is lost and gained in these journeys of demolition and re-use.

WALK LEADERS: Emily Bryant and Michael Townsend
Emily & Michael live in a mill in the Valley neighborhood. They take walks a lot and admire, grumble, and discuss the things they see. Emily is a career educator in high schools, museums and national parks. Michael is a public artist who draws on buildings with tape. He is a 27 year resident of the Valley neighborhood, a graduate of Fort Thunder, a strong advocate for the non-demolition of mill buildings, and that guy who lived in the mall.
