WALK DESCRIPTION

From farmland to street-car suburb, to popular 21st century neighborhood, Hope Street runs parallel to Benefit Street and Blackstone Boulevard, and is yet a world apart. This walk explores the northern end of Hope Street from Rochambeau Avenue to Lippitt Park. Jane Jacobs advocated urban streets that welcomed people to experience a variety of spaces, places, activities and the “cheerful hurly burly of street life.” What would Jane Jacobs say about Hope Street today?

WALK LEADERS: Barbara Barnes and Beverly Pettine

Barbara and Beverly have led walking tours in Providence for many years and have also led many Jane’s walks.
