Transportation in the City Center — Past, Present, and Future

Saturday May 7, 3-4:30pm

State House side of railroad station in Providence

Corner of Dorrance and Clifford St.

Starting on the State House lawn just across the street from the train station on Gaspee St, participants will observe, consider and discuss, the history, current conditions – what works well and what does not — and the issues going forward about transportation in the downtown area. From the train station, the walk will proceed through Kennedy Plaza to the proposed location of a new downtown bus hub at Dorrance and Clifford Streets where the walk ends.

WALK LEADERS: Barry Schiller and Patricia Raub

Barry Schiller, a life-long transit rider, motorist, and bicyclist, served on the RIPTA Board of Directors and the state’s Transportation Advisory Committee. Patricia Raub is a co-coordinator of the RI Transit Riders and teaches courses on the history of RI and on Providence architecture at Providence College.
