WALK DESCRIPTION
This ramble through the Mount Hope neighborhood will look at a series of small semi-public spaces and consider how and if they could be changed to better serve the community. While walking these spaces, we will explore the creative possibilities of underutilised public space as well as the complexity of maintenance, ownership and participation. Stops will include the old Camp Street bus turnaround, a paper street between Knowles and Grandview, and pathways adjacent to Billy Taylor Park.
WALK LEADER: Brendan Rose
Brendan is a multidisciplinary architect working in the fields of green architecture, public art, and custom fabrication. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University at Buffalo and a Master’s in architecture from Syracuse University. Brendan’s practice includes neighborhood murals, large sculptures, custom street furniture, and public space design. He is committed to finding delight in both the process and product of design and believes the arts strengthen our affection for life. Brendan lives on Mount Hope with his wife and two children.
